February - 2008 Meeting Minutes:

Safety:

Safety: Bernie reminded us to dress in warm layers as the temperatures start to climb and we are tempted to get the bikes out for a ride. The air temperature may feel fairly warm, but as we are moving down the road, the wind passing over our bodies cools us off quickly. This can lead to hypothermia and it takes away the ability to think and react correctly. If you start to shake uncontrollably, hypothermia is setting in and you should stop and warm up immediately. Also watch out for gravel, salt, cold tires and cold, hard tar strips.

When we stop at the American Motorcyclist Association Museum the day before the EasyRider Show, Bernie says to check out their library.

Bernie is open to any safety questions the members may have.

COLUMBUS TRIP

Those going on the Columbus overnight are reminded to park out back at DuBois H-D. The bus will pick us up there at 8:00 am Saturday.

Our Summer Picnic has a tentative date of June 21. Location is still open, so if you have any ideas let us know.

Mileage Program:

All mileage for 2007 MUST be turned in to Carol Mortland no later than the February meeting or by contacting her at 375-9736 or at ramcem@comcast.net.

Your ending mileage for 2007 will automatically be entered as your beginning mileage for 2008 unless requested otherwise.

Web Site:

We finally have our chapter information posted on the web thanks to the efforts of Jon Noonan. To access chapter new letters, activities and photos, please go to the DuBois Harley Davidson home page (http://www.duboisharleydavidson.com/) and click on the Tri-County H.O.G. link.

We are just in the beginning stages of getting all information posted, but we will continue to add more as time moves forward. If you have any suggestions for improving our web site, please get in touch with one of the chapter officers or trustees. We would like to make this as dynamic as possible and would appreciate any and all suggestions.

As stated above, the monthly Newsletter’s will be posted on our web site. Starting in February 2008 we will no longer mail or e-mail copies of the Newsletters unless specifically requested by a chapter member. If you do not have access to a computer and need a hard copy mailed to you, please get in touch with Carol Mortland or Judy Masonis.

The 50/50 ($101.00!) was won by Tom Sprague. The $50 DuBois H-D Gift Certificate was won by new member Linda Williams.

Good way to start!
